de una mejilla de sal;

When it opens in the morning,
It glows as red as blood.
The dew won’t touch it
Afraid of being burnt.
Open wide at noon
It’s hard as the coral.
The sun leans through windows
To gaze at its gleaming.
When the birds begin
To sing in the branches
And the afternoon faints
In violet light, off the sea,
It turns white, as white
As a grain of white salt.
And when night chimes
Its white horn of metal
And the stars all appear
As the breezes die,
In a ray of darkness
It starts to fade.

Federico García Lorca - (Doña Rosita the Spinster and the Language of Flowers)

She opens in the morning,
Her colour the deepest red.
Afraid of being burnt by her,
The dew has quickly fled.

At noon her petals, open wide,
Have all the firmness of coral.
The sun looks down to gaze upon
The splendour of its rival.

When birds take to the branches
To announce the approach of sleep,
And evening begins to slip
Into the sea's azure deep.

Then her red grows deadly pale,
Like a cheek by sorrow torn,
And night, approaching softly,
Blows on a metal horn.

The stars advance across the sky,
The wind no longer calls,
As on the edge of darkness,
Her petals begin to fall.

Quand elle s‘ouvre le matin
elle est rouge comme le sang ;
la rosée ne la touche pas
de peur de la brûler.
Ouverte à midi
elle est dure comme le corail,
le soleil pointe aux carreaux
pour la voir étinceler.
Quand dans les branches commence
le pépiement des oiseaux
quand le soir s‘évanouit
dans les violettes de la mer,
elle devient blanche, du blanc
d‘une joue de sel ;

yanmaktan korkar.
Öğlen iyice açılır
dipdiri mercan misali.
Güneş camlara yaklaşır
onun parlaklığına bakmak için.
Kuşlar dallara konup
ötmeye başladığında
ve baygın düştüğünde ikindi,
denizin mevişi üstüne
beyazlaşır rengi,
tıpkı soluk bir yüz gibi.
Gece çöktüğünde, yumuşak
bir ay parçasına döner
yıldızlar ilerleyip de
Rüzgâr geriledikçe
karanlığın içinde
dökülmeye başlar yaprakları.
